  Iyengar Certified

Only the world's most knowledgeable, rigorously-trained teachers earn the Iyengar Yoga Certification Mark.

Finding Your Teacher Among the Many Trees

Finding the right teacher may be the most difficult of the yogic possibilities because every studio has teachers teaching the same style or many different styles. Yoga studios have become very professional and many have a hard copy newsletter as well as a web site. Usually you can find a picture of the teacher and read his/her bio and what style or styles he/she teaches. This bio also tells you about their training, experience and approach to yoga and the populations that interest them (e.g., children, seniors, people with chronic disease, or the athletic types). This will give you a basic idea of what to expect. Ask around town and at the studio about a particular teacher. To make a final decision, you will have to take a class to experience the teacher for yourself. Remember, no matter what style of yoga you choose, the sensitivity and the patience of the teacher is the key to your personal experience.
